If I asked you what you had for dinner last weekend, could you tell me?
I very much doubt it ... you see if you don't write things down you forget.
But why I hear you asking, do I need to know what I ate last weekend?
Because if you don't lose the weight you want, you can look back at your diary and see where it all went wrong.
So, start every day writing down everything you are eating.
Keep tabs in a diary & write down EVERYTHING you eat, where you
were when you ate, how you felt & the time, and WHY you ate it.
For example ..
Hunger : Tuesday 15th 2am; Woke up feeling hungry so went and got some milk and cookies from the fridge.
Friends: Friday 18th 7.30pm; Went for a Pizza with friends to Pizza Hut and had a large stuffed crust with extra cheese topping as they had a special on..
Bored: Sunday 20th 4pm; Could'nt be bothered to cook so went to McDonalds and ordered a Double Cheese with Supersize fries ...
Boyfriend Trouble: Monday 21st 7pm; Dumped boyfriend had night in with Sally and ate two tubs of Ben and Jerry double choc chip. Watched Sleepless in Seattle (again!)
but don't forget the good stuff...
Felt Lonely: Wednesday 23rd 8pm; Felt really hungry could have murdered a burger but made myself a salad instead.
Day Off : Friday 25th 2pm; Felt really bored and went out for a long walk and passed KFC and Wendy's and didn't go in. I am so proud of myself!
Do you get the idea?
I have exaggerated a bit to show you how this should work but I am sure you can see where I am coming from?
Writing Down What You Eat Keeps You Aware
The simple act of writing everything you eat down and the reasons why, will make you more aware of how much you're really eating and this will then help you focus on your diet that little bit more.
Lets imagine for example you limit youself to one tub of ice cream, better still frozen yogurt, or you promise to yourself that you will always cook on Sundays...instead of eating at Tony Roma's Rib Joint like you usually do.
This means that not only are you aware of what your eating but you are also planning ahead.
Sometimes though, you will screw up but don't punish yourself to much, just get back on track and remind yourself of how good you are going to feel when you get to your chosen weight.
